M-NASR recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency

We’re proud to announce that M-NASR has been recognized as an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency by the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the llinois Park and Recreation Association. This prestigious designation was awarded at the annual IAPD/IPRA conference in late January and represents one of the highest honors an agency can achieve in the field of park and recreation. The Distinguished Accreditation status acknowledges M-NASR’s commitment to excellence across all areas of our organization — including programs and services, fiscal responsibility, governance, personnel practices, risk management and overall community impact.

To earn this recognition, agencies participate in a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process. The accreditation review examines policies, procedures and operations to ensure they align with established best practices and the highest professional standards in park and recreation services. It requires months of preparation, documentation and collaboration across departments.

“The Distinguished Accreditation process allowed us to look closely at every aspect of our agency’s operations and work to make sure we are as thoroughly equipped as possible to address the needs of our participants and families,” said M-NASR Executive Director Trisha Breitlow. “This designation strengthens our mission of providing individuals with disabilities access to meaningful and life-enriching recreation and leisure opportunities and reinforces our dedication to the communities we serve.”

Beyond the recognition itself, the accreditation process offered an important opportunity for reflection and growth. It challenged us to evaluate how we deliver services, identify areas for continuous improvement and celebrate the strong foundation that supports our work. Most importantly, it affirms to our participants, families and partner districts that M-NASR operates with transparency, accountability and a deep commitment to quality.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and professionalism of our staff, the leadership and guidance of our Board of Directors, and the ongoing support of our families, volunteers and community partners. Together, you help ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to inclusive, meaningful and enriching recreation opportunities.
