About Us
The Liponi Foundation for Special Recreation was founded in 1990 to support the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation (M-NASR). Every dollar raised by the Liponi Foundation goes directly to assist M-NASR in its mission to provide individuals with disabilities access to meaningful and life-enriching recreation and leisure opportunities. The Liponi Foundation has raised over $1.6 million for M-NASR since 1990.
Our Mission
The Liponi Foundation is dedicated to providing support to the Maine-Niles Association of Special Recreation in its efforts to provide recreational and leisure programs for individuals with disabilities.
Liponi Foundation is a 501c (3) non-profit organization. Donations to the Liponi Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Where Your Donations Go
Transportation – The donations we receive allow us to fund wheelchair-accessible vehicles that transport M-NASR participants to programs and events. New vehicles are purchased every two years to ensure the fleet meets current safety standards.
Scholarships – The Stella LiPomi Memorial Scholarship Fund helps to ensure all participants are able to attend M-NASR programs, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Special events – The Foundation sponsors two popular annual events for M-NASR participants – the End-of-Summer Party and the Halloween Dance. These events are underwritten entirely by the Foundation and trustees volunteer to provide extra helping hands.
Fundraising Events
Annual spring gala – The Foundation’s premier fundraising event has been an annual tradition for more than 30 years. Dinner, dancing, a live paddle raise and a silent auction featuring a wide range of items and experiences make for a festive evening of celebrating abilities and uplifting lives.
Mini-golf fundraiser – The Foundation’s other main annual event consists of a summer evening of mini-golf, raffle prizes and casual outdoor dining. Friends and families of all ages are invited to participate in this fun night to support M-NASR.
